Job summary

A charitable organization in Catterick Garrison is seeking an Armed Forces Outreach Officer to provide housing advice and support. Candidates need experience working with the Armed Forces community, strong communication skills, and a willingness to engage with various audiences. A minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English is required. This part-time role will involve 29.6 hours per week, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

In partnership with our funders the Forces in Mind Trust and the National Lottery, we are delighted to announce an exciting job opportunity as part of a new groundbreaking project.

Bringing together the regional housing partnership Armed Forces Outreach Service (AFOS) and the MOD, this new post will be based directly within Catterick Garrison to provide key housing advice and support to serving members of the Armed Forces Community and their family members as part of a partnership approach to improving transitional support.

We don’t require you to be a housing expert to apply for this job but we do require you to have time spent in the Armed Forces or have experience of working with those in the Armed Forces, demonstrating that you have an understanding of the current issues facing members of the Armed Force Community with knowledge on the re-settlement process.

The successful postholder will need to have 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at Grade 9-4/A-C (including Maths and English) or relevant demonstratable experience with evidence of continual professional development and a willingness to undertake additional training as required.

Due to the nature of the job, you will need to have Knowledge of Data Protection and Confidentiality and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of Equality and Diversity and the ability to evidence how this would be displayed in the workplace with experience of empathising with others.

The successful candidate will need to show that they have experience of maintaining accurate records and ICT skills including Microsoft Office Packages.

This role will require you to have experience of effective communication methods and be able to engage with various audiences with excellent organisational and time management experience are essential.

Working hours – 29.6 per week
