Working 36.5 hours per week

We are looking for a proactive, customer-focused Garage Voids & Lettings Assistant to join our Housing Management service. In this varied, hands‑on role, you will help manage garage sites across the city, ensuring they are safe, well‑maintained and efficiently let to maximise income and occupancy.

You will carry out regular site inspections, identify repairs, and support the delivery of capital investment and demolition programmes. You will also be responsible for advertising garages, screening applications, arranging viewings, and managing waiting lists. The role includes completing minor repairs, clearing and safely disposing of items left in vacant garages, and helping to deter anti‑social behaviour by engaging professionally with residents, licence holders and stakeholders.

Strong customer service skills are essential, alongside the ability to maintain accurate records, follow set procedures, and work confidently under pressure. You will frequently use IT systems, communicate clearly both in writing and in person, and make sound decisions in line with policies and statutory guidance.

You must also be willing to undertake relevant training to support your development.

A full UK driving licence is essential, as the role requires daily travel to sites in a non‑HGV vehicle. Please confirm you have a full UK driving licence in your supporting statement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organise garage lettings, viewings, and manage waiting lists.
  • Maximise income by sustaining and increasing garage occupancy.
  • Advertise available garages and screen applications according to set criteria.
  • Complete minor repairs and safely dispose of items from vacant garages.
  • Deter anti‑social behaviour and handle complaints professionally.
  • Support demolition and capital investment works by liaising with residents and stakeholders.
  • Accurately maintain records using IT systems and end garage agreements per procedures.
  • Purchase fuel and follow financial protocols.
Essential Criteria
  • Ability to carry out minor repairs and use IT systems for record‑keeping.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working under pressure and prioritising tasks.
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
  • Understanding of policies, procedures, and statutory guidelines.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential, as driving is a non‑HGV vehicle is a fundamental requirement of the role.

This role also includes heavy lifting.
