About the role

We're currently offering the opportunity for apprentices to gain valuable experience and develop a number of key skills that will help you to pursue a career in Mechanical, Electrical and Process Engineering within the construction industry.

What you'll do
  • You will help incorporate the design, construction and commissioning of plant and equipment mainly within the Water sector.
  • You will help play a vital role in the design, planning and programming of the MEP aspects of the projects we deliver; working with design and operational teams to support the design, planning, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of projects.
  • Being involved in the design phase of construction projects, providing buildability & commissioning knowledge to assist the design engineers.
  • Getting involved in hands on practical work as well as supervisory activities.

During the construction phase of projects you will work closely with our site managers to deliver projects. Duties include:

  • Quality - overseeing installation subcontractors, ensuring the installation is constructed to the approved designs & engineering standards. Ensuring the final product meets our & client’s requirements – testing, commissioning, fault finding & producing completion documentation.
  • Safety - reviewing Risk Assessments & Method Statements, ensuring works are carried out in line with these. Overseeing electrical safety on site & ensuring procedures are being implemented correctly.
  • Commercial - ensuring installations meet our and client standards.
  • Contractual - understanding and working to client & supplier’s contract conditions.
  • Documentation - producing Commissioning Documentation, in the form of, Commissioning Plan, Inspection & Test Plan, Factory Acceptance & Site Acceptance, Training material and completions documentation.
What you'll need
  • 5 GCSE's grade A-C (9-4), must include English and Maths.
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.
  • Ability to work professionally as part of a team.
  • Effective analytical and problem determination skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Innovative thinker.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to sites across your operational region.
  • A keen interest in mechanical, electrical or process engineering is desirable but not essential.
