Job summary

A training organization in Coventry is looking for an Apprentice HGV Technician/Electrician. This role offers hands-on experience with heavy goods vehicles while working towards a Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance. You will receive training in the workplace and have the opportunity for 1-2-1 support from a Development Coach, with no costs incurred for accommodation or meals.

Job description
Overview

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice HGV Technician/Electrician. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Electrical Systems.

You’ll be working alongside experienced technicians and auto electricians, learning how to inspect, maintain, and repair a range of specialised heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), including their mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the inspection, servicing, and repair of HGVs and associated electrical systems.
  • Learn to diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of vehicle electrical components (e.g., lighting, sensors, wiring looms).
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate service records and comply with MOD documentation standards.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and workshop best practices.
  • Attend college or training provider sessions as part of the apprenticeship programme.
Training to be Provided

Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release to Remit’s Automotive Academy in Derby. There are a total of 16 x 1 week blocks over the 32 month programme. The costs of hotel accommodation, food and travel are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you.
