Job summary

A leading NHS trust in the UK is seeking a Health Care Assistant to provide quality care to patients under the guidance of qualified nurses. The role includes assisting with patient hygiene, meeting nutritional needs, and undertaking clerical tasks. Candidates should be over 18, reside in the UK for the last three years, and be eligible for an apprenticeship. Shift work is required, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • 18 years old or over with the right to work in the UK.
  • Permanent residence in the UK for the past 3 years.
  • Eligible for an Apprenticeship at Level 3 or higher.

Overview

To assist in the provision of quality care for all patients, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, and to assist with clerical duties and other mutually agreed duties to maintain the smooth running of the unit. The post may involve venepuncture and ECG after appropriate training.

Responsibilities
  • Assist qualified staff in the delivery of patient care and support with patient hygiene needs.
  • Help patients meet their nutritional requirements and address other patient needs as they arise.
  • Perform venepuncture and ECG duties as required after suitable training.
  • Assist with general clerical duties and other mutually agreed tasks to support the smooth running of the unit.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, good writing skills and a good understanding of the English language.
  • Be 18 years old or over and have the right to work in the UK with no restrictions.
  • Have been permanently resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
  • Be eligible for an Apprenticeship at Level 3 or higher (if applying for the Apprenticeship Health Care Assistant role).
  • Be able to work shift patterns including day shifts, night shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
