Job summary

A leading cardboard and paper manufacturer in Ellesmere Port is seeking an Apprenticeship role. You will assist in HR administrative tasks, support management with statistics, and process orders at the plant. Job description

Duration: 2 years

Hours: Monday to Friday – 8.00 am to 4.30 pm

Lunch: ½ hour (unpaid)

Salary: National Apprenticeship Wage plus 20%

Holidays: Statutory plus 5 days

Closing Date: 31/08/2025

Apprenticeship level: Intermediate - Level 2 (GCSE)

Interview Start Date: From 05/09/2025

Possible Start Date: ASAP

Your responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Plant Secretary and Plant Management Team with reconciling time & attendance recording, including all related coordination work and HR administrative tasks.
  2. Support the creation and preparation of relevant statistics for management and Head Office.
  3. Process orders and purchase materials required at the plant, along with other related tasks.
  4. Support general secretarial duties, manage the switchboard and reception.
  5. Collaborate with internal and external contacts to support Progroup’s success through teamwork and coordination.
  6. Assist with project-related tasks as instructed by the line manager.
  7. Coordinate with external contacts, e.g., insurance associations and external firms.
Your profile:
  1. Good organizational skills and ability to manage workload, initially under supervision, with task prioritization.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; friendly and approachable.
  4. Ability to follow standard processes while using initiative to improve or streamline processes, supporting new IT initiatives.
  5. Ability to multitask efficiently.
  6. Positive, flexible, and proactive attitude, willing to undertake additional duties as needed.
  7. Commitment to HR and operational compliance, processes, and policies.
  8. Trustworthy and respectful of colleagues’ and company’s confidentiality and privacy rights.
