What you will do:
  • Perform safe and effective venepuncture and cannulation for whole blood and apheresis donations
  • Operate and manage apheresis equipment (Optia) ensuring safety and accuracy, with training provided if needed
  • Conduct vital signs observations and pre-donation screenings to assess donor eligibility
  • Monitor donors throughout donation procedures and execute any necessary clinical interventions
  • Deliver a professional, caring, and donor-centric experience before, during, and post-donation
  • Accurately document procedures, observations, and any incidents, following up as necessary
Essential for the role:
  • NMC registration
  • At least one-year post-registration experience
  • Extensive experience in phlebotomy and cannulation
  • Willingness to train in apheresis procedures if not already experienced
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills
  • Professional judgement with the ability to escalate concerns appropriately
