Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Analytical Chemist to join ResChem Analytical Limited, based in Derby, England. We are a responsive, client focused analytical laboratory who specialise in pesticide residue analysis, conducting regulatory studies to GLP on behalf of agrochemical companies for the registration of plant protection products.

ResChem Analytical Limited is a division of Smithers ERS Limited, which provides a wide range of environmental safety testing services for the pharmaceutical, agricultural, industrial and specialty chemical, and personal care industries. Our teams include experienced scientists and technicians offering a broad range of skills and areas of expertise.

Role and responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Director of ResChem, we are looking for team members who are self-motivated, enthusiastic, ambitious, who have a keen eye for detail and an aptitude for problem solving. The individual will be working as part of an established team, and the role will encompass all aspects of pesticide residue chemistry including sample preparation, extraction, purification and quantitation by LC-MS/MS or GC-MS. All work will be conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and specifically those regulations (GLP) specified in the study plans, protocols, or work agreements governing the work in which they are involved.

Training will be given in all aspects of the role, including:

  • sample preparation
  • sample analysis
  • data processing
  • general laboratory and housekeeping duties

Responsibilities of the role may vary depending on your qualifications and relevant experience.

Qualifications and Experience
  • A BSc or equivalent degree in Chemistry, or a related subject
  • Strong laboratory skills and attention to detail
  • A passion for problem-solving and innovation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Prior experience working in a GLP accredited laboratory
