Job overview

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are seeking an Anaesthetic and ICU Specialty Doctor to join our Anaesthetic and Critical Care department. It is anticipated that the postholder will have a minimum of 3 years anaesthetic experience.

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a split site NHS Trust which provides anaesthetic and critical care services at High Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville Hospitals. The successful applicants will be expected to work across both sites for daytime activity, although out-of-hours work will be based at either SMH or WH.

These are replacement posts to accommodate a 1:10 rota pattern.

Please note applicants MUST have a GMC Registration with Licence to Practice in the UK, and have worked in the United Kingdom in the last 3 years.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible to a named Consultant, i.e. the Consultant Head of the Clinical Delivery Unit for Anaesthetics and Critical Care, as per nationally agreed Terms and Conditions of Specialty Grade Doctors. They will be expected to maintain Continuing Professional Development portfolios and will be encouraged to develop and expand their existing skills and knowledge.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

  • MB,BS or equivalent Appointee would normally be expected to possess a postgraduate qualification, (or have completed a programme of training and gained sufficient relevant experience to fulfil the requirements of the job plan).
  • Primary FRCA (or equivalent)
  • Completed at least 3 years’ full time hospital service in the Core Trainee or higher grade since first obtaining full or limited registration. (Mandatory to have some UK experience)
  • Current ALS certification
  • Diploma in anaesthesia (or equivalent)
  • Final FRCA (or equivalent)
  • APLS (or equivalent)
  • ATLS (or equivalent)

Desirable criteria

  • Any other higher training preferable.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Minimum of 3 years at Core Trainee level in UK or equivalent experience in anaesthetics
  • ICU and Obstetric anaesthetic competencies at level of middle-tier. Must have some experience in the UK
  • Able to work independently at SAS level

Other Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice in the UK

Desirable criteria

  • Full driving licence with access to a car
