Registered Veterinary Nurse - Location: Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists, South of England

At Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists, we are a multidisciplinary referral hospital offering a variety of specialist services, including Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Neurology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Soft Tissue Surgery, Internal Medicine, Cardiology and more. Not only this, but we are also an ISFM gold feline clinic and have been recognised with the BVHA design award for providing an outstanding work environment. As part of working for CVS vets, we are proud to be able to offer our team unrivalled access to learning and development resources, a network of support ranging from flexible benefits to mental health champions, all to promote our wellbeing.
We are looking for an RVN who wants to step into the life of referral as an Anaesthesia RVN. In this role you will be fully supported by a large anaesthesia team made up of 5 Anaesthetists, 2 resident Anaesthetists and 9 Anaesthesia RVNs.
As you will be new to referral, we will ensure you have a full 8-week induction followed by comprehensive in-house learning. We run regular in-house CPD lectures, 6 monthly CPR refreshers and full support from our 4 senior anaesthesia nurses.
During your time at Lumbry Park you will begin learning the basics and starting off with sedation cases before moving onto stable anaesthesia cases. Once you gain more confidence and have signed off your training log you can then begin monitoring more complex cases with the help and support of the Anaesthetists and senior Anaesthesia RVNs.
Example of our case load at Lumbry Park:
Nurses receive a £500 CPD budget, our team use this to attend AVA lectures, fund certificates, further study or simply attending lectures that help support our growth.
I joined the team as a flexi RVN and never imagined how much my career would grow here. Over the past five years, I discovered my passion for anaesthesia and was supported every step of the way to develop my skills. With the encouragement and opportunities provided, I went on to complete my Certificate in Anaesthesia through improve international. This workplace has played a huge role in shaping my career, and I\'m proud to be part of a team that genuinely invests in its staff. - Beth W Anaesthesia Team Lead RVN
As Head Nurse here at Lumbry Park I oversee the Anaesthesia, Imaging and Theatre team. I love to see how hard everyone works to provide the best patient care. Anaesthesia is my passion, especially complex soft tissue and neurology cases.
When I started at Lumbry, I joined as flexi nurse before joining the anaesthesia team. After being at Lumbry 6 months I then went on to complete an NCert in Anaesthesia and Analgesia, with this I have then attended conferences in London and Paris. Everyday here at Lumbry I learn something new from my colleagues, and they have all helped shaped me into the nurse I am today. Ellen - Head Nurse Anaesthesia RVN.
Transitioning into referral from first opinion practice was a smooth process thanks to the welcoming team and induction process. After nearly two years at Lumbry Park, I have developed new skills, feel empowered to take on the more challenging cases, and now halfway through an NCert in Anaesthesia and Analgesia. From sedations to the more complex surgeries, every day is different. On the hectic days for everyone in the team, we all pull together when needed. We are able to utilise our nursing skills more and find my role very rewarding, I have not looked back since.
CVS is devoted to being a fully inclusive workplace where all colleagues are celebrated for their unique identities. We strive to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and provide a supportive environment where everyone can perform at their best.
