Job description

Join the Canal & River Trust as an Ambassador and help connect more people to our canals. Your role will help preserve our nation’s history and keep canals alive. You will have the opportunity to support events, be part of a supportive team, and gain a new appreciation for our environment.

This is an opportunity to be the ‘face’ of the Canal & River Trust and the Unlocking the Severn project, playing a key role in enhancing the visitor experience and ensuring visitors leave with a greater understanding and affinity for the River Severn.

You will provide an exceptional visitor experience, including guiding pre-booked groups around Diglis Island, the riverside at Diglis, and the Fish Pass. The role may also involve opening and securing buildings.

This role offers the chance to work in unique locations such as historic workshops, lock islands, and innovative engineering sites. You will meet new people, engage with visitors from local areas and further afield, gain confidence through leading tours, and share knowledge about the local area.

Why we want you

Our Ambassadors help promote the value of our nation’s canals and rivers by attending events, promoting campaigns like Share the Space, and engaging with supporters and visitors. As an Ambassador, you can help represent the Trust, connect more people to our waterways, and raise awareness about canals.

Our Ambassadors focus on public events and specific opportunities to invite the public to join us, learn more, try activities, and discover the Trust.

Other roles, such as Waterside Leader, involve leading activities like guided walks at events. Additional roles include Rangers, Lock Keepers, Explorers, Waterside Champions, and Youth Engagement roles, which involve engaging with customers regularly outside event settings.
