All Ages Sexual Offence Examiner/Experienced Forensic Physician - National

This role predominantly covers both paediatric and adult services. Some travel will be a requirement of this role. Weekend working and evenings may be occasionally needed for in-hours shifts for resilience and training purposes.

As part of the Forensic Medical Programme, Mountain Healthcare has developed an evidence‑based framework to enhance key knowledge and skills that are invaluable across all Specialities, especially A&E, GP, paediatrics, psychiatry, and of course Forensic and Sexual Offence Medicine.

The role of Sexual Offence Examiner is critical in providing victims of sexual assault with the dedicated support and care required. As a Sexual Offence Medical Examiner you will learn through clinical placements and blended learning, and receive ongoing personal support with an allocated mentor. We will design an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, including opportunities for examinations, along with financial support during the post.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
  • Develop forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
  • Actively work in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
  • Point of contact for Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
  • Undertake holistic assessments, including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
  • Support the continued quality improvement of the service.
  • Work under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
  • Obtain consent for health and forensic procedures.
Essential Skills Required:
  • GMC‑registered doctor.
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant post‑Foundation experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
  • Experience working in Sexual Health, Paediatrics, GP, or Obs/Gynae.
  • Because of the nature of the Sexual Offence Examiner role, applications are invited from females only. This post has a genuine occupational qualification under the Sex Discrimination Act Sections 7(2)b and 7(2)e.
  • A UK driving license is required and access to a vehicle.
  • Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required, which necessitates residency in the UK for 3 years.
  • Medical Indemnity by start date is also a requirement.
Desired:
  • Diploma in Legal Medicine.
  • Member of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine.
  • Previous experience working in a SARC setting or custodial environments.

GMC Registration is required. Note that we cannot support international visas. Police vetting requires 3 years residence in the UK.
