Job description
Why join?

If you’re an engineer who wants true ownership, visibility, and the chance to shape how agentic systems transform profitability in an analogous sector, this is the role for you.

You won’t be a small cog in a big machine (team of 7) — you’ll be helping to define the machine itself.

  • Build production-grade agentic AI systems that automate the workflows of elite law firms.
  • Work with a world-class founding team and colleagues with backgrounds from leading academic, startup, and financial institutions.
  • Join a startup that’s both cutting-edge and commercially proven — a rare chance to scale a product already trusted by leading global clients.
  • Benefit from equity ownership and remote-first working, with opportunity to join the team in London when suits you.

If you want to build agentic solutions that can operate in ambiguity, be deployed in one of the most complex environments, and supercharge your skills with agentic frameworks, and use your commercial skills to develop their feature roadmap, this is for you.

About The Business

Law firms are in the business of selling time and not outcomes — and AI is shrinking that ability.

Our client is a London-based startup that builds the GenAI platform that will bring the legal sector into the AI age and future proof, and expand their revenue opportunities.

Their product empowers lawyers and finance teams to maximise value from engagements through :

  • Pricing agents that create data-driven, lawyer-friendly quotes.
  • Management tools that predict overruns and help avoid costly late bills.
  • Enrichment engines that clean and structure messy legal datasets for pricing.

They are backed by some of the leading early stage investors in the UK / EU and exceptional angels with rapid commercial traction across top UK & US firms, they are scaling fast and this is the time to join.

The Role : AI / ML Engineer – Agentic Systems

You will design and deliver intelligent agentic workflows, leveraging frontier LLMs.

Working with their data scientists and backend engineers, you’ll be responsible for making unstructured legal data usable, scalable, and impactful.

This is not a prototyping role — you’ll ship well-engineered, production-ready systems that directly impact customers.

Responsibilities :
  • Designing and building LLM-powered agentic systems that automate and augment law firm workflows.
  • Integrating external APIs and internal data pipelines into intelligent, maintainable systems.
  • Deploying AI-driven features at scale on AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Driving the roadmap for intelligent systems and ensuring scalability, compliance, and robustness.
Requirements
  • Strong programming experience with Python.
  • Proven track record building production-grade AI / ML systems (emphasis on implementation and integration over pure research).
  • Practical experience with AWS (and ideally Terraform, GitLab CI).
  • Experience with agentic systems or LLM-powered automation (e.g. tool-augmented LLMs, RAG workflows, agents for complex workflows).
