A local charity is seeking advocacy volunteers to support older people in voicing their concerns and accessing services. Responsibilities include helping with practical tasks such as phone calls and letters. This role offers flexible hours from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, making it a great opportunity for those wanting to make a positive impact in their community.
Role: Age UK Norfolk’s advocacy team support older people to voice their concerns and assert their rights when decisions are made that affect their lives. Advocacy volunteers usually visit the older person at home but during Covid 19 pandemic volunteers are supporting the older person remotely from their own home with contact by phone, video call, email and where necessary letter.
The main purpose is to provide independent support to an older person in order to promote their independence for as long as possible. The older person may be in their own home or in a care home.
Flexible hours between 9 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday.
Age UK Norfolk is an independent, local charity. They have 75 years’ experience of supporting older people and their families living in Norfolk. They raise their own funds and fundraise locally to provide vital services across the county.
Their relationship with other Age UK charities allows them to share knowledge and expertise, and to actively promote the wellbeing of older people through collective national and local campaigning.
