Job description
Overview

We are looking to recruit a Advanced Nurse Practitioner or trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Annex 21) to join our existing ANP team within the Orthopaedic Department. The role will involve advanced clinical practice in trauma and elective orthopaedic care, improving patient flow and delivering high‑quality care in line with national standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced clinical skills in the Orthopaedic unit, including trauma, elective, hip fracture ward and outpatient arthroplasty pathway.
  • Deliver autonomous, ANP‑led care within the new National Treatment Centre, supporting the Ortho‑geriatric Consultant.
  • Work across Fife Elective Orthopaedic Centre and orthopaedic trauma wards, collaborating with acute and primary care nursing, medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management.
  • Provide direct patient management: history, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation.
  • Teach, supervise, assess and mentor staff; plan, prioritise and delegate work.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships across the multidisciplinary team and the four Pillars of Practice.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Registered nurse, acting within professional boundaries.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice and demonstrable evidence of clinical competence.
  • Orthopaedic experience or advanced practice modules preferred; candidates without a PGDip will be supported to study.
  • Excellent clinical decision‑making, ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads and work flexibly in a busy environment.
  • Sound knowledge of national standards and patient safety.
Training & Development

Annex 21 trainees are paid a percentage of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate, dependent on the training duration. Successful completion leads to a fully qualified ANP role. Study leave and dedicated lead support will be provided for candidates who have not yet completed their PGDip.

Working Hours

Full‑time or part‑time hours will be considered.
