Overview

The Institute for Life Sciences Building 85's iconic design was built in 2010. It provides key infrastructure to multiple faculties at the University of Southampton, including research and teaching laboratories.

You are invited to apply for the full-time post of Building 85 Facilities/Goods in Administrator to provide support for the occupants of the Institute of Life Sciences Building 85. We are seeking to appoint a customer-orientated, enthusiastic, flexible and organised person to carry out and provide support to help ensure efficient delivery of building facilities and ordering services. The position is part of the Faculty Operating Service and reports to the Facilities Manager (B85).

The Role

You will work closely with the facilities manager to support the operational running of the building and contribute to promoting a positive health & safety culture.

You will provide cover for goods in and work closely with the goods in administrator to support ordering services and goods in yard management.

You will liaise with colleagues across the university and external persons in the reporting of building issues and coordinating repairs.

Qualifications / The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • previous experience of providing effective and efficient administrative support
  • proven track record in identifying and resolving critical issues
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • good inter-personal skills to build effective and credible working relationships within the team as well as internal and external stakeholders
  • excellent time management and organisational skills to manage your own workload effectively to meet business requirements
  • good numeracy and IT skills to ensure excellent attention to detail and maintaining accurate records
  • willingness to carry out some manual handling and physically active tasks

The successful candidate will be expected to work 36 hours per week. This role does not support hybrid working.
