Job description
Overview

Provide specialist physiotherapy and respiratory care predominantly to outpatients, with support to Critical Care, Acute Medicine or Surgery teams as service need requires. Hours are between 08:00 and 20:00, including weekends and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions and formulate evidence‑based treatment programmes.
  • Supervise junior physiotherapists, assistants and physiotherapy students, providing clinical reasoning and case conference training.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) standards.
  • Represent physiotherapy service at multi‑disciplinary team meetings, integrating physiotherapy into treatment programmes and discharge planning.
  • Lead implementation of clinical practice changes, contribute to audit and research projects, and recommend service improvement to the service manager.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Health Professions Council Registration.
  • Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (desired).
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience in critical, medical, neurological and surgical patient assessment and treatment.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary physiotherapy team.
  • Experience supervising staff or students and contributing to clinical education.
  • Experience in respiratory medicine, critical care, acute medicine or surgery rotations.
