We require a registered nurse for the role of AKI Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is a permanent post and would be ideal for someone wishing to develop their acute management and assessment skills. This service aims to reduce the incidence of AKI, and improve its management within the hospital and community setting. You will also be required to assist in managing a nurse-led AKI follow-up clinic, to improve education and awareness of AKI, to aid in the development of strategies to prevent AKI, and to input data which will reflect the activity of the service.
You will have sound acute assessment skills, a broad knowledge of AKI, preferably with experience of teaching and audit. In-reach into all patient areas will be required, and you will ensure care of these patients is to a high standard, embedding the AKI Standards of Care.
We are looking for a qualified nurse; someone who is motivated, dynamic, with excellent communication skills. You will be able to use your own initiative to work independently and manage a caseload of patients. This is a seven-day service, and flexibility will be expected to meet its changing needs.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will act as the clinical expert and professional resource to the multi professional team, patients and carers within the Acute Kidney Injury Service.
The post holder will have a responsibility to develop the specialist area of practice in partnership with other members of the specialty team and will work collaboratively to develop services and improve the quality of care delivered.
The post holder will carry responsibility for managing an inpatients caseload whilst offering highly specialist service advise, This will include setting standards of care, the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of prescribed care, management and education.
This role may require some cross site working with Walsall Manor Hospital and therefore a driving license would be preferable.
