Sheridan Maine is delighted to be supporting a successful and expanding accountancy practice based in Devon in their search for an Accounts Portfolio Manager. This senior role is perfect for someone who is technically strong, client-focused, and eager to contribute to the continued growth of a highly reputable firm.

The Role

As Accounts Portfolio Manager, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of clients, primarily SMEs, partnerships, and sole traders - acting as their trusted adviser and ensuring they receive high-quality accounting and advisory services. You will develop strong client relationships, lead a small team, and play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant, and timely outputs.

Your key responsibilities as the Accounts Portfolio Manager:

• Manage your own portfolio of clients, serving as the primary point of contact and ensuring an excellent level of service.
• Oversee the preparation and review of accounts, financial statements, tax returns, and management reports, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
• Provide practical financial and business advice tailored to client needs, supporting their growth and performance.
• Lead, support, and mentor junior team members, reviewing their work and encouraging their development.
• Maintain strong quality and compliance standards across your portfolio, keeping up to date with accounting and tax requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending enhancements to processes and client service delivery.

To be considered for this Accounts Portfolio Manager position, you will have/be:

• ACA or ACCA Qualified (or equivalent qualification).
• Experienced within a UK practice environment, with the ability to manage a varied client portfolio.
• Strong technical knowledge across accounts preparation, tax, and compliance.
• Confident communicator with a passion for building long-term client relationships.
• Excellent leadership qualities and enjoy working as part of a team.
