Job summary

A well-established financial services firm in Manchester is seeking an experienced Accounting Support Virtual Assistant to provide professional support to their accounting department remotely. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, proficiency in cloud-based accounting tools like Xero and QuickBooks, and excellent communication skills in English. This role offers flexible working options and requires strong attention to detail and the ability to manage time effectively in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting support.
• Proficiency in cloud-based accounting tools (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.).
• Comfortable working in UK time zone or with partial UK hours overlap.

Responsibilities

• Enter and categorize financial transactions using accounting software.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
• Prepare and issue client invoices; monitor receivables and payables.
• Generate financial reports such as P&L and balance sheets.
• Assist with VAT returns and other HMRC-related filings.
• Support monthly and year-end closing activities.

We are hiring on behalf of a well-established financial services firm based in Manchester, UK, offering tailored accounting, advisory, and investment solutions to both individual and corporate clients.

As their business grows, they are looking to expand their remote team with a skilled Accounting Support Virtual Assistant who can provide accurate, timely, and professional support to their accounting department.

Key Responsibilities

• Enter and categorize financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero)
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and other financial statements
• Prepare and issue client invoices; monitor receivables and payables
• Generate financial reports such as P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries
• Assist with VAT returns and other HMRC-related filings (training provided if needed)
• Support monthly and year-end closing activities
• Maintain organized digital financial records and documentation
• Communicate with UK-based accountants, clients, and vendors in a professional manner
• Perform ad hoc administrative and finance-related tasks as needed

• Proficiency in cloud-based accounting tools (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.)
