Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting and Finance Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting in preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The Accounting and Finance Officer will work closely with the Head of Finance to support the organisation\'s financial operations and contribute to its overall success and will directly engage with the company\'s external accountants.

This role is a part time (2 days/ week), fixed-term employment role until 31 March 2026, subject to funding levels and projects, with the possibility of a full-time employment agreement in the future.

The team is partly based in London (UK), and partly international who predominantly work UK hours – this role is for someone based around London that can commute to our London office 2x a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software and spreadsheets.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and ensure that all transactions are properly recorded and documented.
  • Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, providing insights and analysis as needed.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely manner.
  • Support the finance team in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to provide financial information and support decision-making.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as required.
  • Assist the Head of Finance on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, providing accurate and timely financial and management reports.
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, and other transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with TGSN’s external accountant to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports.
  • Assist developing and maintaining internal control policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate and assist the Head of Finance with the audit process.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Ideal candidate is London based.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Accounting and Finance Officer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Deep knowledge of financial analysis, financial forecasting, UK tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g., Xero).
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA or similar will be considered a plus.
