A recruitment agency is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to join a council in the United Kingdom for an initial 3-month temporary contract. Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Senior Finance Officer to join Kirklees Council on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Provide day-to-day financial support to a mixed portfolio of services
Support and specialise in key finance functions such as financial planning, corporate accounting or capital accounting
Lead on budget monitoring, forecasting and financial reporting
Attend and contribute to meetings with Budget Holders and Senior Managers, presenting financial information and advice
Support the delivery of capital accounting activities within a public sector environment
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies and procedures
Line manage, supervise and support Finance Officers and Assistant Finance Officers
Contribute to service improvements and the development of effective financial processes
Significant experience working within a public sector finance environment
Local Authority experience is preferred, however candidates from other public sector backgrounds will be considered
Proven experience of:
Budget monitoring and financial forecasting
Presenting financial information to Budget Holders and Senior Managers
Supervising and supporting junior finance staff
Capital accounting within the public sector
