Legal Cashier Team Leader (Central)

The role of the (Central) Legal Cashier Team Leader in Finance Operations is to ensure that their team provides a high‑quality service to internal clients across the full range of Finance matters. The key aspect of the role is to supervise, coach and develop team members to ensure effective, compliant delivery of all financial transactions in line with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs).

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the Legal Cashiers in the team and maintain service level standards.
  • Maintain time‑keeping, absence, overtime and holiday records, and ensure adequate staff cover during all planned and unplanned absences.
  • Coach, train and develop team members to ensure proficiency in processing and compliance with SAR.
  • Lead daily and monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved.
  • Oversee accurate and timely posting of incoming payments, ensuring compliance with internal policies and SAR, and notify relevant legal teams of ledger transactions.
  • Supervise daily investigation and allocation of unrecognised funds, ensuring they are promptly identified and allocated to the appropriate matter and liaise with legal teams on resolution.
  • Manage the import and processing of invoices from HMCTS and HMLR to the correct matter ledgers, maintaining high levels of accuracy and optimising billing opportunities.
  • Oversee the management of residual balances in line with SAR, proactively liaising with legal teams to identify, allocate and process balances promptly.
  • Ensure all internal processes are efficient and in line with SARs, and work closely with the Legal Cashier Manager to improve systematisation within the team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing excellent customer service to both internal business operations and wider legal teams.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the cashier team, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture.
  • Assist the brand teams during busy periods, signposting queries to the relevant team and resolving issues and general queries to ensure high‑level customer service.
