Job Summary
An A&E Receptionist – Band 2 – 37.5 hours per week, Permanent. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our A&E reception team. Applicants should be excellent communicators with good telephone skills, able to deal with the general public daily and maintain a positive approach to customer care.
The role involves providing reception support to the clinical team within the A&E Department. Applicants must have a good standard of IT skills, work well independently and as part of a team, and be flexible to cover 24/7 service. Shift patterns include days, evenings, nights, unsociable hours over weekends, bank holidays, and work from 8:00pm to 6:00am, which receive enhancement payments.
Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming and professional first impression for patients and healthcare professionals at the A&E reception desk or by telephone, ensuring an excellent customer service experience.
- Act as the first point of contact for anyone accessing the department, handling enquiries in person, by phone or by email efficiently, politely, and courteously.
- Offer full clerical support to the A&E Department teams within the hospital.
- Operate the reception service as part of a team and independently, without direct supervision, to ensure smooth running of reception.
- Provide administrative cover across all reception desks within A&E and Same Day Emergency Care.
- Work shift patterns that incorporate days, evenings and nights, including unsociable hours over weekends and bank holidays and hours 8:00pm‑6:00am, for which enhancement payments apply.
