An environmental management agency in the United Kingdom is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support or manage projects related to flood risk management. The role includes participation in the entire project life cycle, from planning to construction, and requires strong analytical skills and effective communication abilities. Candidates should possess relevant qualifications, driving access to project sites, and the ability to work collaboratively. This position also involves training for incident response duties.
In this Assistant Project Manager role you will either assist Project Managers on the delivery of medium‑high risk projects or manage your own smaller, lower risk projects. The role sits within our Project and Programme Delivery Team, leading flood risk management projects with the goal of reducing the risk of flooding to communities and enhancing the environment.
You will be involved in the entire project life cycle; from initial strategic planning, through to detailed design and then into construction. You will be a key part of a collaborative working group that includes our supply partners, client representatives and other technical specialists. You will develop skills in project, commercial, contract and risk management and be involved in activities such as data management, researching flood risk areas, setting up new projects, using systems and processes to help manage projects, attend site visits and public exhibition meetings. You will learn how to apply EA legislation, policy and guidance to deliver benefits for communities and the environment.
Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises. Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment.
