Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to play a critical role in the delivery of East Anglia's flood incident management service, helping to build communities that are resilient to the impacts of flooding. Covering Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk, the Flood Resilience Team Member will support the delivery of activities across all aspects of the team’s work and have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate internal and external enquiries that come into the team inbox, such as Freedom of Information requests and MP briefings, to ensure a timely and high-quality response.
  • Support Technical Specialists in the maintenance and improvement of data within the Warning System, using a variety of databases and GIS tools.
  • Support Incident Management leads in updating procedures, training materials and rosters to ensure delivery of a competent and resilient flood incident management service.
  • Support Engagement Advisors with production of materials and resources for engagement with customers and partners, and assist with community engagement events as necessary.

About the team

The Flood Resilience Team sits within the Flood and Coastal Risk Management Department in Local Operations. We deliver the Flood Warning Service, engage with communities at risk from flooding and ensure our flood warning duty officers are trained and capable as part of EA2030’s goal of building a nation resilient to climate change.

Qualifications
  • An excellent communicator, who enjoys engaging with others and building relationships; strong inter-personal skills and a results-oriented approach.
  • Take a proactive approach to progressing work, with the confidence to make decisions on your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually; capable of prioritising an interesting and varied workload.
  • Knowledge of GIS tools and willingness to undertake further training when necessary.
  • It would be helpful, but not essential, to have knowledge of Flood & Coastal Risk Management and/or incident management.
