NHS Dumfries & Galloway is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Management Accountant and Financial Accountants Assistant to join our busy and supportive Financial team. These posts are excellent opportunities for someone looking to develop their career in NHS finance while contributing directly to the delivery of high quality healthcare services across the region.

As an integral member of the Financial Management team, you will provide proactive, high quality financial management support to a range of services and budget holders across NHS Dumfries & Galloway. Working closely with Divisional Finance Managers, Management Accountants, and operational managers, you will help ensure robust financial control, accurate reporting, and effective decision making.
You will be responsible for preparing monthly budget statements, analysing variances, processing journals, supporting the annual budget setting process, and assisting with statutory financial returns. You will also contribute to costing exercises, service redesign work, and the preparation of year end accounts.
This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non finance colleagues. You will often work independently, managing your own workload and meeting strict deadlines in a fast paced environment.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
