About this role
The Graduate Engineering Consultant role sits within the Design & Projects team of Savills’ Engineering and Design Consultancy (EDC) team. With 48 engineering and sustainability consultants operating across a UK network, EDC are quickly developing into one of the largest engineering departments in any mainstream real estate practice with a reputation for success and professionalism.
Our EDC team provides technical expert solutions throughout the various stages of an asset’s acquisition, design, management and disposal.
We have teams based in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow, employing the best-in-class engineering consultants, and can provide full coverage across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Our team comprises of chartered engineers and experts in the core disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) engineering complemented by Low Carbon Consultants and inspectors with accreditation in air conditioning. Our expertise expands to specialist areas such as IT infrastructure, BMS and Controls, Intelligent Buildings, Vertical Transportation, Security and Access Control.
Our broad range of skillsets allows us to support our clients from the initial stages of a property acquisition all the way through to management and disposal. Our service offering and advice includes: technical due diligence surveys; condition surveys and feasibility studies; design and projects; integrated systems; planned maintenance and lifecycle costing; term consultancy; licence to alter; dilapidation terminal schedules and assessments; vendors’ surveys and technical guidance.
Our strength lies on using our technical knowledge and experience to develop solutions and deliver positive results. We work closely with all project stakeholders and always uphold a commercial mind-set with consideration on financial constraints, lease breaks, dilapidations, market conditions, etc. Our team have experience across a range of sectors including Commercial Offices, Retail, Warehouses, Residential, Hotels, Mission Critical, Life Sciences and Healthcare.
As a graduate on the EDC team, our graduates will gain experience across a wide range of skills and experiences. We have a variety of different service lines within our EDC team that will help you in developing a strong, all-round engineering mindset as you progress through your concurrent professional and academic journey.
Throughout the duration of your apprenticeship, you will be taught, and put into practice, engineering skills which will be key for an engineer role at Savills EDC. You will have a varied range of experience including undertaking site surveys for dilapidations, designing MEP systems using modern 2D and 3D software, attending client meetings and presenting options and solutions to the project stakeholders or undertaking report and specification writing.
The breadth of experience that a Savills graduates obtain is second to none and the pathway will help to provide a holistic scope across the implementation of high efficient engineering services in new and existing buildings.
