Job description
Overview

Build the world you want to live in with a career in the infrastructure property sector. We are looking for ambitious Graduates to join our growing Energy teams in Leeds and London. Our society is changing, and the transition to clean home-grown energy is of paramount importance.

The team

Our Energy team (part of the wider Infrastructure Division) provides cradle to grave advice and support for energy projects across multiple technologies and throughout the UK. Our client base ranges from single private landowners to major renewable energy developers. We offer services to clients within the following sectors:

  • Land assembly (landowner and developer side)
  • Valuation
  • Grid connection advisory
  • Transactional services
  • Negotiation
  • Energy brokerage
  • Project origination
The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an effective individual to become part of a team that delivers real change to people’s lives. You will deal with a wide range of clients including private landowners, large-scale institutional landowners, local councils, developers, investors, project operators, and commercial building owners.

You will take an active part in assisting with the negotiation of land agreements between developers and landowners for energy developments. You’ll support with providing valuation advice for lending, tax, strategic planning, dispute resolution, purchase and sale. You will screen portfolios of land and grid availability to assess opportunities for energy development. On the developer side you will support with finding land/investment opportunities in your chosen locations. You’ll provide strategic advice for income enhancement across renewable and commercial assets. All of this will support the UK’s transition to Net Zero.

You will undertake occasional site visits, meet clients and colleagues, and attend public networking events to gain experience in some specialised energy consultant skills which are in short supply in the market.

What will it take to be successful?

Candidates applying to our Energy team will come from a variety of backgrounds. We are interested in receiving applications from students available to join us in Autumn 2026 who have an understanding of and enthusiasm for the energy and renewables market, who will be comfortable developing into a role where they will advise and manage clients across multiple projects, with ambition to gain a sound knowledge of energy technologies and the technical and environmental constraints, and who will work to develop landowner and developer negotiation experience.

Ideally you will have a RICS-accredited degree; however, we welcome applications from candidates with non-accredited degrees and other relevant qualifications. It is essential that you have a full driving license as regular travel is required.

Our promise to you

From day one of our scheme, you will be invested in. We offer a structured training programme, an APC supervisor or counsellor, and regular assessments to ensure you achieve the full level of competency required for your APC. In addition, we pay your APC registration fee and your first APC final assessment and offer up to five days study leave.

Carter Jonas believes in investing in their employees and ensuring everyone is provided with the right support and guidance to achieve their full potential. As a graduate you will benefit from:

  • A strong network of graduates across all our divisions.
  • Formal APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) training.
  • RICS counsellors and mentors to help with both work and study.
  • A supportive social environment.
  • Regular CPD (Continued Professional Development) opportunities.
  • Ongoing and personalised support from industry specialists.
  • Gaining real work experience.
Application process

You will be asked to respond to questions about your work experience, motivations, and interest in a career in property, as well as any extracurricular activities. Please provide reference contact details, one educational and one employment. If successful, you will be invited to attend one of our graduate assessment centres on 26 November or 8 December 2025.

Application deadline: 31 October 2025
