Job Overview

Fixed term contract, ends 10 July 2026. Start as soon as possible. We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and empathetic individual to work on a 1‑1 basis with a KS2 pupil with SEND. You will also liaise with, support and report to the Class Teacher and the Learning Enrichment Co‑ordinator (SENCO). St Christopher’s School is an independent day prep school for approximately 260 girls aged 4 to 11, located in Hampstead.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑to‑one support to a pupil in Year 6, identifying and addressing learning and behavioural needs.
  • Work closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO to implement the pupil's individual educational plan.
  • Assist with classroom activities and support peers and classmates when required.
  • Help with playground and lunch duties, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and report progress to the teaching team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Committed to working on a 1‑1 basis with pupil(s) with SEND.
  • Excited about working in a school or with children.
  • Experience in SEN practice and additional professional development in educational needs.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Energetic, hard‑working and committed.
  • Ability to form positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents.
  • Keen to provide day‑to‑day support to teachers in a classroom environment.
  • Happy to assist with playground and lunch duties.

Terms & Conditions

Fixed term, full‑time, term‑time only (Monday‑Friday). Normal hours 8.00am‑4.00pm, with some flexibility for start and finish times. The postholder may assist with activities involving children from other years as required.

The appointment is subject to at least two satisfactory references, an Enhanced DBS disclosure, verification of identity and qualifications, satisfactory medical fitness, evidence of the right to work in the UK and DfE prohibition checks. Overseas checks will be required for those who have lived or worked outside the UK.
