Job description

In-Person Tutor - Full-Time Support for Non-Verbal Student with ASD (RH1, School-Based)

20 per hour 32.5 hours per week Term-time only SEN & Play Therapy Focus

Are you a compassionate and patient educator with experience in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?

We're seeking a dedicated full-time tutor to work in-person with a 7-year-old student based in school in RH1. The student is non-verbal, working significantly below age expectations, and currently at an Early Years learning level. Your role will be to provide consistent, nurturing support that uses play-based and therapeutic approaches to help them engage, progress, and feel safe in their learning environment.

What the Role Involves:

  • Deliver 1:1 support throughout the school day (9:00am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday).

  • Use play therapy techniques and creative, individualised strategies to encourage communication and engagement.

  • Support the student's development across Early Years learning, adapting activities to their unique needs.

  • Work closely with school staff and parents to ensure consistency and celebrate progress.

  • Foster trust, emotional security, and positive learning experiences every day.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Experience supporting children with ASD, preferably non-verbal learners.

  • Knowledge of play therapy and child-centred approaches to learning.

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children working significantly below age-related expectations.

  • Strong communication skills for liaising with staff and parents.

  • A proactive and flexible approach to working within a school setting.

Why This Role Matters:
For this student, education is not just about academics-it's about connection, play, and developing confidence at their own pace. Your consistent presence and creative support will be key to helping them thrive.
