An international consultancy firm based in Grenoble is seeking an Agronomist Engineer to manage socio-economic and ecosystem components of environmental impact studies for major projects. The ideal candidate should have a Bac5 education in agricultural engineering, experience in international consultancies, and fluency in French and English. This full-time position involves regular travel to Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe.

Qualifications

Responsabilités

  • Define and supervise socio-economic baseline surveys.
  • Conduct impact analysis and predict changes to ecosystems.
  • Identify solutions to minimize negative impacts.
  • Prepare environmental and social management plans.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including vulnerable populations.
  • Influence development design and operation through dialogue.
  • Prepare technical and financial proposals.
  • Collaborate with other SLR Group teams.

Company Overview

SLR Consulting is an international group of 5000 people specialising in environmental and social studies. The SLR Consulting France team based in Grenoble works on Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) of major infrastructure projects (eg hydroelectric dams, green hydrogen production, mining projects, port developments) in Africa, Asia, South America and Eastern Europe with international financing from institutions such as EBRD, AFD, IFC and the World Bank.

Position Summary

SLR France is recruiting an agronomist engineer to manage the socio‑economic and ecosystem components of environmental and social impact studies of major projects, under the responsibility of the Director of SLR Consulting France.

Responsibilities
  • Definition and supervision of socio‑economic baseline (eg socio‑economic surveys)
  • Conducting impact analysis including analysis of alternatives and prediction of changes to ecosystems and local populations
  • Identification of solutions to avoid, minimise or compensate for negative impacts
  • Preparation of environmental and social management plans including resettlement, community health and safety action plans, gender, human rights or cultural heritage action plans
  • Stakeholder engagement including vulnerable people
  • Dialogue with developers to influence the design and operation of developments
  • Preparation of technical and financial proposals in response to calls for tenders
  • Interaction with the other SLR Group teams in Europe and the rest of the world
Qualifications
  • Bac5 education, graduate of an agricultural engineering school (eg AgroParisTech, ENSAIA, Institut Agro, Rennes–Angers, ESTAT, ISTOM)
  • First professional experience abroad (Africa, Asia, South America or Eastern Europe) with consultancies or within an NGO
  • Fluent in French and English (C1 minimum), both oral and written
Job Details

Permanent contract based in Grenoble, full‑time executive position. Regular travel abroad in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe is required.
