Research engineer in Bioimage Analysis for the researchers of the inIdEx FORMULA

The inIdEx FORMULA consortium is looking for aresearch engineerto support the research projects of its members. The missions of the engineer will consist in collaborating with researchers by offering expertise and assistance inbioimage analysis.

The engineer will be embedded within the Image Analysis Hub , a core facility dedicated to bioimage analysis in the Institut Pasteur, and in the ImagoSeine core facility of the Institut Jacques Monod. He/ She will benefit from all their resources and expertise. He / She will also interact with biologists and collaborate with them on exciting research projects involving cutting edge analysis and imaging. Finally, the engineer will become a member of F-BIAS, the national network of bioimage analysts in France.

This is a position with a strong pluri-disciplinary component, involving interactions with image analysts, biologists, and researchers in the field of image processing. The engineer will be contributing to the major image analysis software packages used in Life-Sciences and will develop his / her skills in computing and image analysis and contribute to several imaging-related projects. The candidate should be motivated by community-oriented work.

Missions
  • Offering walk-in support and trainings for questions involving image analysis.
  • Collaborate with biologists, developing custom analysis pipelines for their projects.
  • Contributing to the development of innovative image analysis software tools.
  • Ensure dissemination of the new tools: training events & documentation, making the tools usable by the community.
  • Contribute to defining and organizing the image analysis activities of the inIdEx: hub meetings, technology exchanges, open desks with users.
Localization / Salary / Start

The engineer will work within the Image Analysis Hub of the Institut Pasteur, Paris. Part of the engineer missions will be fulfilled in the Institut Jacques Monod, in the ImagoSeine core facility.

Salary range: 2400 – 3300 € / month (raw salary) depending on experience.

The engineer will be an employee of the Université Paris Cité.

Hiring will begin in early 2026. This is a fixed term contract, for 3 years.

Profile

The suitable candidate:

  • Holds an engineering or master’s degree in (bio)informatics, (bio)physics, applied mathematics or any other related domain, followed by at least 1-3 years of professional experience in bioimage analysis in research or support to research activity,
  • Or holds a PhD in bioinformatics, (bio)physics, applied mathematics or any other related domain.
  • Strong knowledge in bioimage analysis.
  • Experience with the current bioimage analysis tools, open-source and commercial.
  • Practical experience with deep-learning, ideally in imaging.
  • An experience with biology and imaging is a plus.
  • The will and taste to collaborate with others on their projects.
  • Ability to train and teach others.

The working language is English.
