The Provence Azur Corsica Environment and Resources Laboratory (LER / PAC) is part of the COAST Unit (Observation and Ecology for the Restoration of Coastal Ecosystems), within the Oceanography and Ecosystem Dynamics Department (ODE) at Ifremer. The laboratory operates across two sites : La Seyne-sur-Mer and Bastia. Its activities focus on three main areas : (i) Monitoring and observing water and habitat quality; (ii) Providing scientific and technical expertise to local authorities, public agencies, and professional organizations, including advising ministries and decentralized services; (ii) Conducting research addressing social and economic challenges, at both national and international levels
He / She will contribute to the laboratory's activities related to the Microplastics research topic. As part of the Ascandra and FluoMP research projects, he / she will participate in all stages of the research process to ensure the proper implementation of the projects, in close collaboration with the project leader. He / She will be responsible for drafting part of the project deliverables and one A-rank scientific publication. He / She will also contribute to the valorization of the LER-PAC plastics / microplastics databases.
He / She will contribute primarily to the implementation of the ASCANDRA (Innov'Eau) project through research activities related to : (i) the validation of innovative analytical tools (developed by a project partner) using reference techniques (already mastered at LER-PAC); and (ii) the study of contamination of different marine matrices by plastics / microplastics in the Toulon Bay area.
He / She will take part in field sampling and laboratory analyses for the project, in support of the technical team.
He / She will be responsible for processing and statistically analyzing the data, as well as for their valorization through the drafting of project deliverables and an A-rank scientific article, under the supervision of the project manager.
He / She will ensure the proper progress of the research project, under the responsibility of the project manager.
He / She will also contribute, as part of the FluoMP project, in support of the project leader and in collaboration with an external partner, to the development of an Artificial Intelligence model capable of automatically detecting microplastics from images and processing the associated data.
He / She will contribute to the valorization of the LER-PAC plastics / microplastics database by co-authoring A-rank scientific publications.

You will be based in Seyne sur mer Brest, at the LER / PAC Laboratory in Plouzané.
You will have a workstation there.
