Positin Overview
\

Forma Design is evolving beyond interactive exploration toward a platform where knowledge, intent, and repeatable logic can be embedded directly into design workflows. As teams face increasing pressure to move faster, standardize outcomes, and reuse proven solutions, automation becomes a critical capability. Not as isolated scripts or one-off tools, but as a productized framework that allows design intelligence to scale across teams, projects, and organizations.

We are looking for a Product Manager to lead Forma’s automation capabilities. The core responsibility of this role is to define and evolve a geometric/parametric automation framework that makes it possible to build, reuse, customize, and distribute automation content. This includes first-party automations, reuse of existing assets such as Revit families, configurable automation content tailored to specific needs, and the foundations for a broader ecosystem where others can contribute and extend automation over time.

You will work as part of a dedicated product team within Forma Design, partnering closely with Engineering and Design in an empowered product triad.

Together, you will discover, validate, and deliver automation capabilities that reduce manual work, increase consistency, and allow best practices, standards, and domain knowledge to be embedded directly into design workflows.

You will define and evolve Forma’s design automation framework, with a clear focus on enabling customizable, reusable automation content to ensure that customers can explore building layouts faster and with higher precision.

This role is about turning design automation s into a first-class product capability. Automations are created as reusable, configurable building blocks that can be applied and adapted across different projects and contexts, without requiring users to write code or understand the underlying implementation.

Your work will enable automations that generate, modify, or validate design elements, support reuse of existing assets such as Revit families, and allow manufacturing or system constraints to be embedded into automation content early.

Over time, this framework should support an ecosystem where automation content can be created, customized, and extended by both Autodesk and third parties, enabling repetitive design and proven solutions to scale consistently across projects.

Responsibilities
Product Discovery
  • Lead discovery with a strong focus on automation workflows
  • Work directly with architects and other building professionals to understand how automations can be created, configured and reused
  • Explore where current tools fall short and where cloud-native automation workflows can create new value
  • Validate problems and solutions through interviews, prototypes, experiments, and data, ensuring learning continuously informs what the team builds next
Product Delivery
  • Translate validated insights into clear priorities and actionable direction for the product team
  • Partner closely with Design and Engineering to deliver high-quality solutions iteratively
  • Maintain a strong connection between discovery and delivery so that learning drives execution
Product Strategy and Direction
  • Contribute to and execute the Site Design product strategy within Forma Design, with a focus on expanding adoption among engineers
  • Ensure new capabilities balance engineering rigor with the flexibility required in early-stage design, and fit coherently within Forma’s broader platform strategy
Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration
  • Work closely with adjacent Forma teams to ensure Automations integrates naturally into end-to-end workflows
  • Make dependencies visible and manageable. Drive alignment around shared intent models and consistent system behavior across the platform
Goals and Measurement
  • Define clear, outcome-oriented goals for your area of responsibility
  • Establish meaningful success metrics related to engineer adoption, engagement, workflow impact, and cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Track progress using both qualitative and quantitative insight and adjust direction as needed
Decision Ownership
  • Own product decisions within the squad’s scope
  • Make trade-offs explicitly, incorporate input from stakeholders, and stand behind the decisions that shape product direction and value delivery
  • Take accountability for outcomes, not just output
Communication and Representation
  • Act as the primary representative for the product team in cross team forums and stakeholder discussions
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and learnings with clarity and transparency
  • Share insights broadly to support alignment and continuous improvement across the product area
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3-7 years of experience in product management or a closely related role in B2B or SaaS products
  • Strong skills in customer discovery, problem framing, and experimentation
  • Experience working closely with Design and Engineering in empowered product teams
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building products from the ground up
  • Ability to think in systems, platforms, and AI enabled workflows
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Interest in AEC workflows, early stage design, and decision making under constraints
  • Experience with building design and design automations is a plus but not required

This is a chance to make automation a core product capability and use it to raise the baseline of how cities are designed. By enabling design logic, standards, and best practices to be reused and scaled, you help teams deliver higher-quality outcomes more consistently. You will shape a framework that embeds repeatable, customizable workflows directly into design processes, reducing repetitive work and making proven solutions easier to apply across projects, ultimately supporting more efficient, sustainable, and predictable urban development.
