A leading engineering consultancy in safety assessment, located in Spain, is seeking a Principal Safety Case Engineer. In this hybrid role, you will manage engineering and technical activities, developing hazard management strategies and authoring safety reports. Qualified candidates should have an engineering degree and significant experience in nuclear safety cases. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in multi-disciplined teams are essential.

Formación

  • Significant demonstrable experience in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience in multi-disciplined teams for project delivery.
  • Ability to achieve SC Level security clearance.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop hazard management strategies and conduct HAZID/HAZOP studies.

The Role

As a Principal Safety Case Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will manage the delivery of engineering and technical activities, through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience. This role is full time, 37 hours per week, and offers hybrid working. This role is adaptable and can be delivered from various locations including Bristol, Warrington, Newbury or Leicester. Our Client is working on multiple projects across multiple sites (new build, defence and decommissioning) and consideration will be given on the best suitable match to your location and experience. 2/3 days a week site presence is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop hazard management strategies and Participate in HAZID / HAZOP studies.
  • Author radiological safety assessments, including Hazard Management Strategy, Safety Reports (PSRs and PCSRs etc. and equivalents).
  • Produce and check calculations, design basis documentation and technical reports.
  • Manage the delivery for the work undertaken by the Supply Chain as appropriate and maintain an overview of progress against cost and programme, and the management of project risks, for the work undertaken within their agreed remit.
  • Maintain an overview of technical and safety case strategies being delivered, and the key arguments used, to share ‘best practice’ between projects.
Key Requirements
  • Skills & Experience
  • Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or actively working toward Chartered Status) is highly desirable
  • Significant preference for experience working on nuclear safety cases. Candidates from other high-hazard industries (oil and gas decom, petrochemistry, pharma etc) will also be considered
  • Experience in working collaboratively in multi-disciplined teams to deliver activities on a range of project types.
  • Demonstrable experience in covering a variety of tasks across a range of complexities.
  • Good communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines.
  • Previous experience of coaching or mentoring other Safety Case Engineers
  • Security Clearance
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC Level security clearance for this role.
