At the University of Deusto , Faculty of Social and Human Sciences we are currently seeking candidates to fill the above position to teach courses at a graduate and undergraduate level, primarily within the Modern Languages undergraduate programme.

FIELD OF STUDY
  • Lecturer and researcher preferably with experience in the fields of Literatures in English, Cultural Studies and Digital Humanities.
  • The position involves performing teaching and research functions in the specific field of study, and may involve carrying out academic administrative tasks in the future.
WE OFFER

Joining the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences team at the Bilbao campus. Expected start date, 1 September 2026.

This is a full-time job.

The salary will be based on the experience and skills of the successful candidate and in line with the professional career development of the Teaching and Research staff at the University of Deusto.

REQUIREMENTS
  • PhD in Literatures in English or similar level of qualification (completed prior to the start of the appointment).
  • Experience as a university lecturer and researcher in the areas of Literary and Cultural Studies, and Digital Humanities.
  • English level required: C2.
  • A positive assessment as a Private University Lecturer / Associate Professor by a Spanish/Basque Official Quality Agency (ANECA / UNIBASQ), equivalent foreign accreditation/qualification, or commitment to obtain a positive assessment within two years.
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
  • Being a native speaker of English with an area of specialization in Literary Studies, Literary/Film Theory and Cultural Studies, with a clear interest in the application of digital technologies to the study of languages and literatures, and a potential research development.
  • High impact publications as well as participation in competitive research projects are highly valued.
  • Experience and participation in tutorial plans, coordination of undergraduate or postgraduate programmes and having delivered or participated in online training courses.
  • Spanish level C1/C2 will be highly valued.
  • Having a knowledge of Basque language or willingness to learn it will be considered an advantage.
