Overview

Job Summary The Wind Turbine Generator Team Lead is responsible for defining WTG requirements and overseeing projects in advanced stages, identifying best practices between projects and capturing them at a corporate level.

Responsibilities
  • Accountability for technical analysis and definition of WTG work packages associated with bids preparation / acquisitions / due diligence for projects.
  • Lead the team reporting to this role, ensuring sufficient project team resources are applied to deliver the work, the team is provided with direction and support.
  • Definition and estimation of headcounts and levels for project construction in project development stages and creation and development of construction plannings for different projects and opportunities in early development stages.
  • In close collaboration with procurement, develops and ensures a solid relationship with key suppliers across the construction services supply chain.
  • Responsible for preparing, elaborating and providing all specifications and technical documentation to allow project engagement and evaluate suppliers, guaranteeing correct application, bidding, construction and operation.
  • Responsible for preparing RFPs, assessing offers, choosing the most competitive and adequate wind turbines and monitoring contractors for Engineering studies and for Multi-EPC / EPCI contracts.
  • Ensuring that wind turbine activities are in accordance with applicable standards, legislation, ethics, and good practices across offshore wind farms industry, tender requirements, regulatory aspects and project policies.
  • Provide ongoing and continuous technical support including innovation and liaise with other areas of technical department and other departments, both at corporate level and at project level, as necessary across project lifecycle to ensure successful completion of the project.
  • Providing technical inputs to CAPEX economic modelling on packages under responsibility, including schedules and quality requirements and contribute to deliverables, preparation of bids / acquisitions, progress reports and presentations of technical department.
  • Provide lessons learned on projects and tools for standardization and industrialization related to WTG.
  • Identifying, assessing and ensuring implementation of risk mitigation plan to determine mitigation actions & close out of risks.
  • Contribute to development of synergies between different offshore wind projects in JV.
  • Be responsible for objectives, resources and budget across WTG function.
  • Other responsibilities as may be assigned by Engineering Director.
  • Represent the organization of JV, in both public and private settings regarding issues relating to its competence and to assert interests of JV while seeking new business opportunities.

  • Ensure that daily activities are carried out according to current legislation through collaboration with outside counsel and JV legal advice.
Requirements
  • Internationally recognised master in Engineering or Science Degree in an Offshore Wind relevant discipline.
  • Fluent in English. Ability to read, write and speak other languages will be a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience within the power / energy sector and 5 years of offshore wind experience having participated in the development and construction of offshore wind projects and in energy yield project characterization with experience of Wind Turbine Generators particularly larger latest generation machines is essential.
  • Knowledge of offshore WTG, its installation and associated activities is essential.
  • Knowledge of wind farm production calculations, and the related acquisition and optimization activities is essential.
  • Specific knowledge of standards associated with WTG development and certification is required, including knowledge of key aspects of some countries regulatory regime.
  • Direct experience and specific knowledge of design, installation and commissioning of WTG is essential.
  • Specific knowledge of electrical and Scada aspects of wind turbine technology is desirable.
  • Uncompromising champion and practitioner of Health and Safety. Working closely with group's HSE professionals in different jurisdictions and in line with best practice and H&S Law.

  • Excellent communication skills including report writing and presentation and ability to communicate technical issues effectively with clients, contractors and consultants.
  • Ability to work within approved budgets and under deadline pressure and deliver high quality results.
  • It is expected to have between 0-3 reporting lines depending on variable workload and number of projects being managed at each time. You will be required to use your leadership skills including staff mentoring, development and empowering.
