Job Description
The candidate will contribute to develop the business activity of Airbus M&A department. His/her key priorities will therefore be to:
- contribute to the origination of M&A deals by screening different opportunities;
- structure and oversee the successful completion of transactions;
- support the strategic planning process of Airbus with content inputs and proposals.
Responsibilities
- cover all steps of M&A files from target identification until execution, including financial modelling of the acquisition case, coordination of necessary stakeholders, negotiation with the seller or the buyer, presentation to executive management and board, and in general the entire project management of the opportunity coordinate with external advisors (banks, lawyers, auditors, strategy consultants…) when appropriate;
- ensure the optimal execution of the transaction and identification of risks associated and, more specifically, manage all the following aspects of a transaction: strategic vision, risk analysis, business plan, impact of the transaction on the Group’s balance sheet and cash flow, letter of intent, due diligence (financial, fiscal, legal, environmental…), signing and closing;
- if needed, set‑up ad hoc teams with other resources from the Group, prepare committee meetings and decisions.
Skills
- open minded, great listening and interpersonal skills, trust, accountability, autonomy appreciated for this role;
- strong analytical skills and expertise in risk analysis, deal structuring and execution;
- business developer attitude, used to work on sourcing opportunities and business sense;
- ability to work with a diversity of clients, from financial sponsors, small to large corporates and institutions;
- negotiating capacity and ability to work with other parties involved in structuring deals, from lawyers to accountants to other banks;
- good sense of autonomy and responsibility;
- ability to work in a multi-cultural/matrix organization, including capacity to convincingly represent the M&A department at various committees;
- stress resistance, solid communication skills, both oral and written (written communication is in the DNA of the Group).
Languages
- complete fluency in English (speaking and writing) is mandatory as English is the language of communication of the M&A department;
- fluency in a second language is required; German or French would, in this respect, be greatly appreciated;
- knowledge of a third language would be seen as a plus.
Education
- strong education in Finance and/or Business;
- additional background in Engineering is also possible.
