At ING we are looking for a Credit Risk Model Developer

Your role and work environment:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Credit Risk Model Developer to join our Retail Credit Risk Team within ING Risk Domain.

The responsibility of the Retail Credit Risk team is to oversight the risk in the Spanish Retail Lending portfolio during the whole credit lifecycle, and our way of working is 100% flexible, in small subject-expert areas, and with a continuous interaction with international teams.

Your key responsibilities:

As a Credit Risk Model Developer expert you will:

Develop EAD, PD, LGD IRB and IFRS9 models for ING Spain retail portfolios of Mortgages and Consumer Lending, ensuring that all modelling activities align with regulatory expectations, internal governance standards, and business objectives.

You will be involved in the credit risk models life cycle: data sourcing, model development, model documentation and support model validation, audit reviews (internal and external) and model implementation.

You will play a critical role in the development of models, driving innovation in modelling practices.

ING Spain is developing locally this new capability, responsible for regulatory model development end-to-end, you will have the chance to build the success of the team, with the support of other colleagues, ING Group in Amsterdam and the Risk Hub center of expertise in Poland. ING is going through a growth phase in Spain, and models play a key role to support the growth. You will be one of the key factors in making that happen.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Statistics, Maths or similar quantitative field.
• +2-5 years of quantitative Risk models development experience.
• Excellent knowledge of statistics and/or mathematics, as well as programming in SAS and SQL. Knowledge of databases, data preparation, data modelling and data quality controls.
• Have extensive knowledge of IRB and IFRS 9 models. Good understanding and interpretation of regulatory credit risk policies, attention to detail and accuracy.
• Have an ability to identify problems, analyze key information and make connections, in order to find pragmatic and feasible solutions.
• We will also value knowledge and experience in a) machine learning techniques, b) programming in Python, c) in other types of risk models (e.g. credit decision models for acceptance, prepayment models) and d) experience in being a sparring partner/advisor to Senior Management.
• Fluent English and Spanish language skills.
• Availability for occasional travels to attend training or meetings in other ING locations.

Queremos incorporar a una persona con talento y entusiasmo para desempeñarse como Credit Risk Model Developer en nuestro equipo de Retail Credit Risk, dentro del dominio de Riesgos de ING.

La responsabilidad del equipo de Retail Credit Risk es supervisar el riesgo en la cartera de préstamos minoristas en España durante todo el ciclo de vida del crédito. Nuestro modelo de trabajo es 100% flexible, en áreas pequeñas de especialización y con interacción continua con equipos internacionales.

Tus principales responsabilidades

Como especialista en Credit Risk Model Developer, te encargarás de:

• Desarrollar modelos EAD, PD, LGD IRB e IFRS9 para las carteras minoristas de ING España (hipotecas y préstamos al consumo), asegurando que todas las actividades de modelización cumplan con las expectativas regulatorias, los estándares internos de gobernanza y los objetivos del negocio.
• Participar en todo el ciclo de vida de los modelos de riesgo de crédito: obtención de datos, desarrollo del modelo, documentación y apoyo en la validación, revisiones de auditoría (internas y externas) e implementación del modelo.
• Jugar un papel clave en el desarrollo de modelos, impulsando la innovación en las prácticas de modelización.

ING España está desarrollando localmente esta nueva capacidad, responsable del desarrollo de modelos regulatorios de principio a fin. Tendrás la oportunidad de contribuir al éxito del equipo, con el apoyo de otras personas, del grupo ING en Ámsterdam y del centro de experiencia Risk Hub en Polonia. ING está en una fase de crecimiento en España, y los modelos son fundamentales para apoyar este crecimiento. Tú serás una de las piezas clave para hacerlo posible.

¿Qué buscamos?

• Grado universitario o equivalente en Economía, Estadística, Matemáticas o áreas cuantitativas similares.
• Entre 2 y 5 años de experiencia en desarrollo de modelos cuantitativos de riesgo.
• Excelente conocimiento de estadística y/o matemáticas, así como programación en SAS y SQL. Conocimiento de bases de datos, preparación de datos, modelización y controles de calidad de datos.
• Amplio conocimiento de modelos IRB e IFRS9. Buena comprensión e interpretación de políticas regulatorias de riesgo de crédito, atención al detalle y precisión.
• Capacidad para identificar problemas, analizar información clave y establecer conexiones para encontrar soluciones pragmáticas y viables.
• Valoraremos también conocimientos y experiencia en:
  a) técnicas de machine learning,
  b) programación en Python,
  c) otros tipos de modelos de riesgo (p. ej., modelos de decisión crediticia para aceptación, modelos de prepago),
  d) experiencia como persona asesora o interlocutora para la Alta Dirección.
• Dominio de inglés y castellano.
• Disponibilidad para viajes ocasionales para asistir a formaciones o reuniones en otras ubicaciones de ING.
