Our Laser Division is at the heart of enabling the precision, power, and performance required for fusion ignition and energy gain. We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Project Manager to support this critical division.
This role will support division leadership in planning, executing, and tracking complex laser system projects and programs related to the development, integration, and optimization of advanced laser systems for commercial laser-based Inertial Fusion Energy. This individual will play a central role in aligning technical goals with business objectives by providing project management leadership across multidisciplinary efforts. This role requires a strong background in project management practices, experience with technical R&D programs, and fluency in using planning and tracking tools.
This individual will serve as a central point of coordination, helping technical leads and managers translate high-level goals into actionable project plans and ensure seamless execution from concept through completion. This role also serves as the primary liaison between the Laser Division and the company’s Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring consistent standards, reporting, and practices are upheld across the broader organization.
This is a high-visibility role offering exposure to advanced technology development, cross-functional collaboration, and opportunities to develop deeper project management expertise over time.
Assist in breaking down project goals into clear tasks and schedules
Create and maintain MS project file, Jira boards, sprints, and task lists
Track progress and follow up with engineers and team leads on deliverables
Schedule and document meetings such as progress and milestones reviews, and planning sessions
Maintain project documentation, change logs, and communication plans
Generate status updates, progress reports, and dashboards for both division and enterprise-level stakeholders
Coordinate with the company-wide PM efforts to ensure compliance with company-wide standards
Support issue and risk tracking, documentation, and team communications
Learn and apply Agile practices and project management methodologies under mentorship
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Business, or a related field
1–4 years of experience in project coordination or junior project management roles
Familiarity with MS project, Jira and Confluence, or a strong willingness to learn
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Interest in technology development and a desire to grow within a technical environment
Preferred: Experience in a high-tech R&D or engineering organization
Preferred: Experience in a fast-paced R&D or startup environment
Preferred: Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies
Preferred: Project management certification or coursework (e.g., PMP, IPMA, Prince, Agile, CAPM, Scrum Master)
Preferred: Understanding of hardware development and complex system integration
Preferred: Familiarity with laser systems, optics, or hardware development environments
