A leading research institute in Berlin offers a thesis opportunity focused on cold gas spraying of metal matrix composite materials. The chosen candidate will conduct independent analyses to evaluate coating quality and engage in advanced engineering problem-solving. This role provides practical experience in innovative manufacturing processes, collaboration with industrial partners, and the flexibility of scheduling. No remuneration will be provided.

For over 35 years, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology in Berlin has stood for excellence in production science. We are dedicated to bridging the gap between science and practice in the field of industrial production and offer application-oriented system solutions for the entire spectrum of industrial tasks – from product development to the production process, maintenance of capital goods, and recycling of products to the design and management of factory operations.
In the Manufacturing Technologies department, we work on the development, provision, and adaptation of production and manufacturing technologies for the manufacture of innovative products. We develop new machines and machining strategies on behalf of our customers, optimize existing production facilities, and implement future-oriented tool concepts. Our core competencies include machining technology, precision machining, cleaning and blasting processes, additive manufacturing, and production and machine measurement technology.
During your thesis, you will familiarize yourself with the topic of “cold gas spraying of metal matrix composite materials.”
Your tasks will include :
The thesis can be supervised at TU Berlin or carried out in cooperation with other universities.
No remuneration will be paid.
The duration of the thesis is based on the requirements of your university.
