Jobbeschreibung
Overview

For Our Theory Group, we are looking for a candidate to contribute to theoretical and computational studies of solids and X-ray spectroscopy. This role involves developing theoretical tools and conducting simulations of electronic structure and spectroscopic spectra, as well as participating in international collaborations and the broader research community.

Responsibilities
  • Calculation of electronic structure of solids and theoretical investigation of X-ray absorption spectra (XAS), X-ray emission spectra (XES), resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) and ARPES spectra
  • Modeling of time-dependent electron spectra of solids as a function of XFEL pulse parameters
  • Investigation of charge and spin dynamics under the influence of ultra-strong and ultra-fast XFEL pulses
  • Probing of non-equilibrium quantum matter with specially shaped XFEL pulses
  • Analyses of strong light–matter interaction in different XFEL experiments
  • Development of theoretical tools for X-ray spectroscopy of correlated materials
  • Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics
  • Knowledge of many-electron properties of materials
  • Experience in advanced techniques for electronic structure calculations
  • Programming skills (C++, Python)

Become part of a vibrant international and multicultural team of scientists, engineers, technical and administrative staff. Be involved in cutting-edge scientific and technical progress and participate in our international networks. Experience our atmosphere of tolerance and respect.

Benefits
  • Salary and benefits are similar to those of public service organizations in Germany, including: family-friendly working environment (e.g., additional childcare days)
  • Flexible working times and option for work from home depending on tasks
  • 30 days of vacation; 24th and 31st of December are free as a courtesy of the employer
  • Extensive relocation benefits
  • Generous company pension scheme (6.45% of monthly salary)
  • Monthly social events and subsidized company restaurant
  • Partially financed job-tickets for public transportation
  • Extensive training opportunities including subsidized English and German language classes
