A leading cloud services provider is seeking experienced support engineers in Berlin to join the AWS Managed Operations team. The role focuses on overseeing the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud and improving service operations. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor's in a related IT field, strong troubleshooting skills in Linux, and experience with AWS services. This opportunity includes relocation support for successful applicants within the EU.
AWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), marking a significant development in Utility Computing (UC). We are seeking experienced support engineers with a strong background in cloud operations to join the AWS Managed Operations team. You will help build and lead operations and development teams delivering high-availability AWS services (EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock) for EU customers.
Responsibilities include overseeing the launch of the ESC in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams, and shaping the evolution of AWS services and technology. A typical day involves working with technology leaders, improving day-to-day operations, and ensuring improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC.
The overarching goal is to deliver scalable services and provide a high-availability experience for EU customers. If you are an experienced professional seeking a challenging and impactful opportunity, join us in building a best-in-class development engineering and operations team aligned with AWS’ commitment to customer satisfaction and continual innovation.
European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) is part of AWS Utility Computing (UC). AWS UC provides innovations from foundational services such as Amazon S3 and EC2 to new product innovations that differentiate AWS services. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services. Within AWS UC, Amazon Managed Operations engineers engage with customers who require specialized security solutions for cloud services.
You’ll typically resolve less time-sensitive issues for software systems in your team’s care while continuously improving services, procedures, documentation, and tools. When SOPs are unclear, you’ll use judgment on escalation versus deep-dive learning. You’ll be the go-to person for keeping systems running efficiently.
You may occasionally participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents outside of business hours.
Diverse Experiences: AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications, we encourage you to apply. If your career is just starting or follows a non-traditional path, don’t let it stop you from applying.
