Die Digital Transformation in Construction Team (DT) am Institute of Construction Management (IBL), headed by Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing Kepa Iturralde, invites applications for a Student Research Assistant (f/m/d) – 10/12h per month.

Join the DT Team at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, if you’re interested in robotics and automation in construction. The team is part of the AMALTEA project (EU Horizon Europe, Grant Agreement No. 101189678), focusing on collaborative robotic systems and computer vision methods for on‑site installation of curtain wall facades.

Requirements

  • You are studying Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant field.
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Interest in and basic experience with hardware integration, including installation and commissioning of robotic systems and peripherals (e.g. PLC, sensors, grippers).
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, IO Link).
  • Familiarity with CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks).
  • Programming knowledge in Python and familiarity with ROS2.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
