Senior Expert Customs Regulatory Affairs – Europe Lead (m/f/d)

Your responsibilities
- Take responsibility for customs-related topics and projects across DHL Group with a focus on Europe – including monitoring regulatory developments and deriving strategic measures
- Support the Head of GCO in fundamental policy matters, decision-making processes, and communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and implement group-wide policies, standards, and processes for the European region
- Advise divisions and central functions on customs-related questions, escalations, and compliance issues
- Manage and support audits, administrative procedures, and coordinate external consultants
- Lead and coordinate regional projects, working groups, and internal expert committees – including support for local initiatives
- Represent DHL Group in European industry associations and advocate with authorities
- Lead the regional Customs Knowledge Group and represent GCO in internal Legal Practice Groups
Your profile
- University degree in law or a comparable qualification, e.g. experience in a senior role within customs administration
- Several years of professional experience in customs within a corporate environment, ideally complemented by knowledge of import VAT and excise duties as well as experience in the logistics industry
- Strong affinity for legal regulations, complex topics, and logistics business models and processes
- In-depth expertise in German and/or European customs law, as well as in indirect taxation, customs compliance, and risk management
- Proven experience in implementing and ensuring compliance with policies and standards, along with strong project management skills
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills combined with a structured, self-driven working style
- Confident appearance, strong communication and presentation skills, and professional stakeholder management in both national and international contexts
- Fluent in German and English; willingness to travel (< 25%)
