(Senior) Clinical Research Scientist – Digital Cardiology & Heart Failure

Location: Berlin

Type of role: Permanent

Sector: Digital Health / Medical Technology (Cardiology & AI)

Working environment: Office‑based with flexibility

Hybrid arrangement: Hybrid (minimum 3 days in the office) or remote (less preferred)

Working days and hours: Monday to Friday, full time

Language requirements: Fluent in spoken and written English, German is a bonus

We are supporting an innovative digital health company that is redefining how heart failure is monitored and managed through advanced machine learning technology. Their platform enables clinicians to detect deterioration earlier than traditional methods and improve patient outcomes at scale.

They are now looking for a (Senior) Clinical Research Scientist (MD, PhD, or equivalent) with a strong cardiology background to join their growing medical and scientific team and play a key role in building the clinical evidence behind a next‑generation digital cardiology solution.

This is not a back‑office research role. You will sit at the centre of the organisation, connecting clinical research, scientific development, and medical affairs in a fast‑paced startup environment, with real influence over both scientific direction and clinical impact.

What You’ll Do
Clinical Research & Trial Oversight
  • Oversee sponsor‑side clinical operations and budgets across multi‑centre studies in Europe and the U.S.
  • Lead, execute, and monitor clinical trials in collaboration with CROs and internal research teams
  • Ensure adherence to GCP and regulatory requirements across all research activities
  • Contribute to protocol design, endpoint definition, and data interpretation alongside R&D and data science teams
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with investigators, study sites, and clinical partners
Scientific Development & Dissemination
  • Draft and co‑author scientific publications and conference presentations for leading cardiology and digital health congresses (ESC, AHA, HFSA, etc.)
  • Support preparation of clinical study reports, regulatory submissions, and grant‑related deliverables
  • Translate clinical data and scientific literature into actionable insights that directly influence product development
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with technical R&D teams to validate AI models and translate clinical findings into algorithmic improvements
  • Provide clinical and scientific input to commercial and partnership activities as a trusted medical expert
  • Ensure clinical context and thinking are embedded across all departments
What We’re Looking For
Required
  • MD or PhD in Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
  • Clinical or research experience in cardiology
  • At least 2 years’ experience in clinical practice, research, digital health, or medical device development
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial methodology and GCP
  • Experience authoring and publishing scientific papers
  • Excellent communication and writing skills for both clinical and technical audiences
  • Based in Berlin with willingness to travel nationally and internationally
Strong Plus
  • Experience in heart failure, remote monitoring, and/or the U.S. healthcare system
  • Regulatory experience (ISO 14155, MDR, FDA)
  • Proven track record managing multi‑centre clinical trials
  • Business, strategy, or data analytics experience
