About this Position
As a Senior Automation & Project Engineer, you will lead automation and investment projects across Europe, identifying Industry 4.0 opportunities, designing scalable solutions, and delivering initiatives that drive Henkel’s digital manufacturing strategy with a focus on technical excellence, safety, and sustainability.
What you’ll do
- Explore and define automation solutions aligned with Industry 4.0 and evolving toward Industry 5.0, ensuring scalability and compliance for multi-site rollouts
- Collaborate across functions to assess feasibility, develop detailed designs, and prepare comprehensive project documentation including budget, schedule, and resources
- Lead key automation projects from design and construction through commissioning and start-up, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to Henkel standards
- Build strategic partnerships with technology providers and vendors to support long-term automation and digitalization goals
- Monitor and control project performance, including cost, progress, and risk management, while handling Steering Committee updates and governance
- Manage stakeholders and communication, resolve issues, and control scope changes within established frameworks
- Ensure compliance and continuous improvement, meeting industry regulations, cybersecurity requirements, and capturing lessons learned to enhance standards
- Act as a change agent, driving digital adoption and promoting human-machine collaboration across sites
What makes you a good fit
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Automation, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related filed
- At least 5 years of experience in Project Engineering, ideally in CAPEX investment projects within an industrial environment with proven expertise in automation projects (e.g.material handling robots, packaging & palletizing systems, automatic truck loading, AGVs)
- Solid project and stakeholder management skills, including proficiency with tools (Office, MS Project, CAD), methodologies and strong interpersonal abilities
- Highly self-motivated, autonomous, and adaptable to a dynamic international environment
- Fluent in English and German both written and spoken
- Willing to travel across Europe up to 30% of the time, depending on project needs
