ABOUT US

Our mission at Avelios is to build the leading software platform for the data-driven digitization of hospitals and patient care. To do so, we have built a modular software platform that digitizes and optimizes workflows in hospitals with cutting-edge technology in a user-friendly way. With our software, we enable hospitals, doctors & nurses to provide their patients with the best possible care.
We are growing fast and want to keep expanding our team and business to fundamentally digitize healthcare for the better. We appreciate different backgrounds and see diversity as one of our strengths.

THE TEAM AND ROLE

As a (Senior) Accounting Manager (all genders), you take hands-on ownership of accounting, financial governance, and audit readiness. You ensure that our core financial processes run reliably, with strong controls and scalability — creating the data and process quality that management and investors rely on for decision-making.

You are fully responsible for the monthly and annual financial close in collaboration with our external accounting firm, ensuring accurate and audit-ready financial data. You also oversee our operational finance processes — from invoicing and accounts receivable management to approval workflows — and thereby build the foundation for efficient operations and high-quality reporting.

You report directly to our Head of Finance and serve as the primary point of contact for external partners, including tax advisors, auditors, and customer accounting departments.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Managing and ensuring the quality of the monthly and annual financial close under HGB, including accruals, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and systematic plausibility checks

  • Ownership of AR/AP governance: oversight of invoice runs, dunning processes, payment approvals, vendor management, and monitoring of spending and approval workflows

  • Further development of our operational finance processes (Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, approval and control processes), including establishing scalable policies, standards, and process documentation

  • Preparation, coordination, and communication with our tax advisors, auditors, and other external partners, ensuring complete, accurate, and audit-ready documentation

  • Strategic development of the accounting function and the internal accounting organization, including initial leadership responsibilities

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related fields, or an equivalent qualification (e.g., certified accountant, tax specialist)

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Accounting/Finance, ideally in tech start-ups/scale-ups, auditing, and/or a dynamic corporate environment

  • Strong understanding of monthly closing processes and HGB accounting standards; knowledge of tax regulations is a plus

  • Experience with DATEV / ERP systems and strong Excel skills; excellent knowledge of AR/AP, approval, and payment processes

  • First leadership experience or clear motivation to take on team responsibility

  • Enthusiasm for process building, tool implementation, and automation

  • Hands‑on mindset with an analytical and solution‑oriented working style

  • Fluency in German and English (spoken and written)

YOUR BENEFITS
  • Variety in your tasks and the opportunity to take ownership

  • An international, informal team structure in a motivating start‑up atmosphere, allowing you to participate directly in our customer growth story and the overall success of Avelios

  • Ability to gain valuable hands‑on experience in a startup backed by leading international VCs

  • Support for your personal development through continuous learning and feedback

  • Set your own rhythm with flexible working hours and trust‑based time tracking

  • A virtual stock option package (VSOP) that lets you participate in Avelios’ long‑term value creation

  • A monthly meal allowance up to 75 euros, full coverage of the Deutschlandticket, Urban Sports Club or a subsidized Wellpass membership, a bike leasing program and Corporate Benefits that give you access to discounts from a wide range of providers in various areas
