The Role

An opportunity for an experienced Project Director to take full responsibility for the delivery of major construction projects across Germany. This is a senior leadership role with end-to-end accountability for programme, commercial performance, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

You will provide strategic direction to project teams, act as the senior client interface, and ensure projects are delivered in line with business objectives, contractual requirements, and commercial targets.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Commercial Leadership

• Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of high-value construction projects
• Lead and manage Project Managers, Commercial Managers, and wider project teams
• Own programme, cost, quality, safety, and risk performance across assigned projects
• Ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual obligations and financial targets

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary senior point of contact for clients, consultants, and key stakeholders
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to secure repeat business
• Lead high-level project meetings and manage client expectations

Commercial & Risk Management

• Oversee commercial strategy, cost control, cash flow, and profitability
• Manage contractual risk, change control, and dispute avoidance
• Support value engineering and strategic decision-making

Programme & Delivery

• Ensure robust programmes are in place and actively managed
• Drive performance against key milestones and delivery dates
• Provide oversight of design development, procurement, and construction activities

Governance & Best Practice

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards
• Promote a high-performance, collaborative team culture
• Contribute to business strategy, operational improvement, and leadership development

Requirements

• Proven experience operating at Project Director or Senior Project Manager level
• Strong background in main contracting delivery of large-scale construction projects
• Excellent commercial and contractual understanding
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple complex workstreams at senior level

Desirable

• Experience delivering technically complex or high-value projects
• Experience working in Germany or mainland Europe
• Degree or equivalent qualification in construction, engineering, or commercial discipline
